All Things New

There is a saying (one I have used often) that " everything old is new again". Another version would be "there is nothing new under the sun".
How opposite are these axioms to the truth of Jesus, who lives to make all things new. It is not my intention to expound on the theological implications of that truth, rather to encourage all of us to remember the truth. Particularly at this trying time of the year, when we are buried under mountains of snow, tired of being cold, longing for the days to increase in length...remember that Jesus makes all things new. I am reminded of my favorite passages, "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." (Romans 12:2) How encouraging to hold to the truth that God desires transformation in our lives and provides a clear directive for us to achieve His desire, through the renewal of our minds. How humbling to bow before my Saviour and ask to be made new; my thoughts, my words, my actions, my desires. How freeing to know that salvation by grace makes new our broken relationship with our Creator. All things new.

"Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more." Isaiah 65:17
